HeySoror Tech Inc.
Terms of Service
Effective Date: August 4, 2026 Last Updated: August 4, 2026
heysoror.io | contact@heysoror.io
Welcome to HeySoror. These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of the HeySoror platform — including our mobile application, website (heysoror.io), and all related services. HeySoror is a verified digital community exclusively for initiated members of Divine Nine (D9) sororities. By creating an account or using our platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. Please read them carefully.
HeySoror's mission is simple: Sisterhood Knows No Borders. The network already exists — HeySoror activates it. We are a community movement first and a technology product second.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the HeySoror platform (the "Platform"), you confirm and represent that you (a) have read and understood these Terms of Service ("Terms"), (b) are an initiated member in good standing of a Divine Nine sorority organization, (c) are at least 18 years of age, and (d) agree to be legally bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy, incorporated herein by reference.
We rely on your representations in (b) and (c). We do not independently verify your age, and our membership verification is limited to what Section 2.1 describes. If either representation is untrue, you are not permitted to use the Platform and we may terminate your account.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Platform. HeySoror may modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes via the Platform or by email to the address on your account before they take effect. Your continued use after a revised version takes effect constitutes acceptance of it.
2. Eligibility & Membership Verification
HeySoror is an exclusive platform designed for initiated members of the four Divine Nine sororities: Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Access is not available to the general public, non-initiated individuals, associate or honorary members, or members of fraternities.
2.1 Membership Verification Process
To ensure the integrity and safety of our community, HeySoror verifies your sorority and chapter affiliation as part of account creation. By creating an account, you agree to participate in this verification process, which today includes:
- Identifying your sorority and chapter affiliation
- Automatic verification where your chapter is already recognized in our system, or manual review by our team where it is not
HeySoror reserves the right to introduce additional or more rigorous verification methods at any time, which may include government-issued photo identification, other identity-document verification, knowledge-based authentication, or periodic re-verification of continued membership in good standing. If we do, we will update these Terms and our Privacy Policy before requiring you to complete any such step.
HeySoror reserves the right to deny, suspend, or revoke access at any time if membership verification cannot be completed, membership in good standing cannot be confirmed, or misrepresentation of membership status is detected.
2.2 Accuracy of Information
You represent and warrant that all information you provide to HeySoror — including during verification and in your profile — is truthful, accurate, complete, and current. You agree to promptly update any information that becomes inaccurate. Any misrepresentation of D9 membership status or sorority affiliation is grounds for immediate, permanent account termination and may expose you to legal liability.
2.3 Respect for D9 Organizations' Independence
HeySoror operates as an independent technology platform and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., or the National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc. ("NPHC"). HeySoror does not claim authority over membership determinations, which remain exclusively within the jurisdiction of each national organization. We do not facilitate initiation, chapter governance, or sorority organizational activities.
2.4 Referral / Ambassador Program
From time to time, HeySoror may give certain verified members a personal referral code to share with other eligible D9 members. If you receive and use a referral code:
- The member who shared the code with you will be automatically connected with you on the Platform, and each of you will be visible to the other
- HeySoror may review any redemption for authenticity and may revoke access obtained through fraudulent or unauthorized use of a code
- This program does not involve any monetary compensation, discount, commission, or other consideration — it is a non-monetary mechanism for verified members to personally vouch for other sorors
3. Intellectual Property
3.1 HeySoror Intellectual Property
The HeySoror name, logo, taglines (including "Sisterhood Knows No Borders"), platform design, software, features, and all associated intellectual property are owned exclusively by HeySoror Tech Inc. and are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works of, or commercially exploit any HeySoror intellectual property without our express written consent.
3.2 Third-Party Intellectual Property — Divine Nine Organizations
HeySoror deeply respects the intellectual property rights of all Divine Nine organizations. The names, letters, insignia, crests, mottoes, colors, symbols, and other marks of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and all other NPHC member organizations are the exclusive property of their respective organizations and are federally registered or common-law protected trademarks.
You agree that:
- HeySoror does not grant any license to use D9 organizational marks beyond your personal, non-commercial membership rights as recognized by your own organization
- You will not upload, post, or display D9 organizational marks, letters, insignia, or proprietary content on the Platform in any manner that your sorority organization prohibits or has not authorized
- Any use of organizational intellectual property on the Platform is solely your responsibility and must comply with your sorority's own trademark and intellectual property usage guidelines
- HeySoror disclaims any responsibility for unauthorized use of D9 organizational intellectual property by Platform users
HeySoror has entered into, or intends to pursue, formal licensing and partnership agreements with D9 organizations. Nothing in these Terms implies a current partnership, affiliation, or licensing arrangement with any D9 organization unless separately documented in a formal written agreement between HeySoror and that organization.
3.3 User Content License
You retain ownership of content you submit to the Platform ("User Content"). By posting User Content, you grant HeySoror a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute your User Content solely in connection with operating, securing, and improving the Platform. You represent that you own or have the necessary rights to all User Content you post, and that it does not infringe any third-party rights.
This license ends when you delete the User Content or your account, except that (a) copies retained in routine backups may persist until overwritten in the ordinary course, and (b) content you shared with other members may remain in their copy of a conversation. Our Privacy Policy describes what is retained after account deletion.
3.4 Copyright Complaints
We respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement consistent with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA"). If you believe material on the Platform infringes your copyright, send a written notice to our designated agent below that includes: (i) your physical or electronic signature; (ii) identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed; (iii) identification of the material claimed to be infringing, with information reasonably sufficient to let us locate it; (iv) your name, address, telephone number, and email address; (v) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and (vi) a statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
Designated Copyright Agent: Legal Department HeySoror Tech Inc., 1100 New Jersey Ave SE #2142, Washington, DC 20003 Email: contact@heysoror.io
We may remove or disable access to material we believe in good faith to be infringing, and will make reasonable efforts to notify the member who posted it. That member may submit a counter-notice as provided under the DMCA. We terminate the accounts of members we determine to be repeat infringers.
4. Platform Use & Community Standards
HeySoror is a space built on the values of sisterhood, service, scholarship, and uplift that define our D9 heritage. All members are expected to engage with integrity, authenticity, and mutual respect. The following standards apply to all Platform activity.
4.1 Acceptable Use
You may use the Platform to:
- Connect and network with verified D9 sisters globally
- Share travel plans, destination tips, and itineraries
- View sorority-affiliated pins and activity on our interactive world map
- Send and receive direct messages with verified members
- Participate in HeySoror-organized events, series, and community programming
- Share professional, personal, and social experiences relevant to the sisterhood community
4.2 Prohibited Conduct
You agree NOT to:
- Misrepresent or falsify your D9 membership status, sorority affiliation, chapter, or any other information
- Share your account credentials or allow any other person to access the Platform through your account
- Post, transmit, or share content that is harassing, threatening, defamatory, discriminatory, hateful, or abusive toward any individual or group
- Upload spam, unsolicited commercial messages, or promotional content without HeySoror's prior written approval
- Attempt to extract, scrape, harvest, or otherwise collect personally identifiable information of other members without their explicit consent
- Use the Platform to conduct or facilitate any illegal activity
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to Platform systems, other user accounts, or any data not intended for you
- Post content that infringes any intellectual property rights, including the trademarks of D9 organizations, unless you have authorization
- Impersonate any person, sorority chapter, or D9 organizational entity
- Engage in conduct that violates the bylaws, standards, or published codes of conduct of your sorority organization
- Submit fraudulent bug reports or misuse in-app reporting or diagnostic tools
4.3 Content Moderation
HeySoror reserves the right, but not the obligation, to review, moderate, remove, or decline to display any User Content that violates these Terms or our Community Standards. We may take corrective action, including account suspension or termination, without prior notice when we determine that a violation has occurred. As part of this process, authorized staff may review relevant account activity or message content connected to a specific report, consistent with our Privacy Policy.
We do not tolerate content or conduct that is harassing, threatening, hateful, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable. We may remove such material and suspend or terminate the responsible account without prior notice.
4.4 Reporting and Blocking
The Platform provides tools to report content or conduct and to block another member. You can also reach us at contact@heysoror.io about anything that makes you feel unsafe.
We review reports we receive and may remove content, restrict features, or suspend or terminate accounts in response. We do not guarantee any particular outcome, or that we will act on every report, and moderation decisions are ours to make. Blocking is intended to prevent the blocked member from messaging you and to remove their profile from your view; it is a product feature rather than a security guarantee, and it does not prevent someone from creating a new account or from seeing information you have made publicly visible.
Nothing in this Section limits Section 5 or Section 10.
5. Travel Safety & Member Responsibility
HeySoror connects sisters for travel and networking purposes but does not organize, arrange, endorse, or take responsibility for travel accommodations, transportation, meetups, or any activities arranged between members through the Platform.
You acknowledge and agree that:
- All travel arrangements, meetups, and in-person interactions you initiate through the Platform are undertaken at your own risk and discretion
- HeySoror does not conduct background checks on members beyond our membership verification process, and verification of D9 membership status does not constitute a guarantee of any member's character, safety, or conduct
- You are responsible for exercising sound personal judgment and taking appropriate precautions when meeting Platform members in person
- HeySoror is not liable for any loss, injury, damage, or harm arising from in-person interactions or travel activities facilitated through the Platform
- You should always comply with local laws and regulations in any destination you visit
HeySoror's interactive map feature displays member-submitted travel information. This information is user-generated and unverified by HeySoror. We do not guarantee its accuracy, completeness, or currency.
6. Privacy & Data
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information, including information gathered during verification. By using the Platform, you agree to the practices described there. The Privacy Policy governs — where this Section summarizes it, read the Privacy Policy for the full and controlling description.
In summary:
- Membership-verification information is used to confirm your eligibility and for no other purpose
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising
- We do not send your personal information to third-party artificial-intelligence services, and we do not use it to train AI models
- Your map location is shown to other members according to your location settings. Other profile information, including your home city, follows your profile-visibility setting. Your username is visible to all members regardless of your settings
- Messages are not end-to-end encrypted. Authorized administrators can access message content in the limited circumstances the Privacy Policy describes, and each access is logged
- You may delete your account and personal data from within the mobile app. Some information is retained after deletion — the Privacy Policy identifies exactly what, and why
7. Subscriptions & Payments
7.1 Tiers and Where Purchases Happen
HeySoror offers a free membership tier. Paid tiers are not yet available — every account is currently free. The terms in this Section describe how paid subscriptions will work once we introduce them, and we will tell you before any charge is ever made to you. When available, paid subscriptions are purchased only on our website. No purchases are made inside our mobile applications, and our mobile applications do not offer, advertise, or process payments.
7.2 Automatic Renewal — Please Read
Paid subscriptions renew automatically. When you subscribe:
- Your subscription renews at the end of each billing period — monthly or annual, as you select at checkout — and your payment method is charged the then-current price for the renewal term, unless you cancel before the period ends
- Renewal continues until you cancel
- You may cancel at any time, through the billing portal linked from your account settings on our website, or by emailing contact@heysoror.io. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep paid access until then
- Cancelling stops future charges. It does not refund the period you have already paid for
- The price, billing period, and renewal terms that apply to your subscription are presented to you at checkout before you complete your purchase
7.3 Price Changes
We may change our pricing. If a change affects your existing subscription, we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email before it applies to a renewal, so you can cancel first. Continuing your subscription after that notice period constitutes acceptance of the new price.
7.4 Fees, Taxes, and Refunds
All fees are stated in U.S. dollars and are exclusive of any applicable taxes, which you are responsible for. Fees are non-refundable except where applicable law requires otherwise. We do not prorate refunds for partial billing periods. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us at contact@heysoror.io and we will review it.
7.5 Payment Processing and Failed Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe, and your card details are handled by Stripe rather than by us. If a payment fails, we may retry it, and we may suspend or downgrade paid features until the balance is resolved.
8. Events & Programming
HeySoror organizes and co-produces community events and programming series in partnership with third-party organizations. Participation in HeySoror events may be subject to additional terms specific to each event, including ticketing, cancellation, and conduct policies, which will be provided to you at registration.
HeySoror is not responsible for the actions or omissions of third-party event co-producers, venues, or sponsors. Any disputes arising from third-party services should be directed to the applicable third party.
9. Disclaimers
THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. HEYSOROR DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ACCURACY OF CONTENT.
HeySoror does not warrant that: (a) the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components; (b) any User Content is accurate, complete, or reliable; or (c) any particular result will be achieved through use of the Platform.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, HEYSOROR TECH INC., ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, ADVISORS, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE PLATFORM, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR PERSONAL INJURY, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
HEYSOROR'S TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CAUSE WHATSOEVER SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO HEYSOROR IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100.00).
Some jurisdictions do not allow limitation or exclusion of certain damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability shall be limited to the extent permitted by law.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless HeySoror Tech Inc. and its officers, directors, employees, advisors, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Platform; (b) your User Content; (c) your violation of these Terms; (d) your violation of any third-party rights, including the intellectual property rights of any D9 organization; or (e) any misrepresentation of your D9 membership status.
12. Account Termination
HeySoror may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for any violation of these Terms, including but not limited to: misrepresentation of D9 membership, conduct harmful to the community, or repeated violations of platform standards.
You may delete your account at any time from within the mobile app. Upon termination, your right to access the Platform ceases immediately. Deletion of your data is governed by our Privacy Policy, which identifies the limited categories retained afterward.
Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will remain in effect, including Sections 3, 5, 6, 7.4, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, and 16.
13. Dispute Resolution
13.1 Informal Resolution
Before initiating any formal legal proceeding, you agree to contact HeySoror at contact@heysoror.io to attempt to resolve any dispute informally. We will make reasonable efforts to resolve disputes within 30 days.
13.2 Binding Arbitration
If informal resolution is unsuccessful, any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Platform shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. Arbitration will take place in Washington, D.C. or, at your election, via videoconference. The arbitrator's decision shall be final and binding.
13.3 Class Action Waiver
YOU AND HEYSOROR AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN YOUR INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims.
13.4 Exceptions
Either party may seek emergency injunctive or other equitable relief from a court of competent jurisdiction in Washington, D.C. to prevent irreparable harm pending arbitration.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of law principles. For any matters not subject to arbitration, you consent to exclusive jurisdiction and venue in the state or federal courts located in Washington, D.C.
15. General Provisions
- Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any applicable event-specific terms, constitute the entire agreement between you and HeySoror regarding the Platform.
- Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
- No Waiver: HeySoror's failure to enforce any right or provision shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
- Assignment: You may not assign your rights under these Terms without HeySoror's prior written consent. HeySoror may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Force Majeure: HeySoror shall not be liable for any failure or delay resulting from circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
- Notices: HeySoror may provide notices to you via the Platform or the email address on your account. Notices to HeySoror should be sent to contact@heysoror.io.
16. Mobile Application Terms
This Section applies when you download or use the HeySoror mobile application. In this Section, "App Store" means Apple's App Store and "Google Play" means the Google Play Store.
16.1 License
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the HeySoror application on a device you own or control, for your personal, non-commercial use, in accordance with these Terms and with the usage rules of the applicable app store. You may not redistribute the application, make it available over a network where multiple devices may use it at once, reverse-engineer it, or attempt to extract its source code, except to the extent applicable law prohibits that restriction.
16.2 Acknowledgment
These Terms are between you and HeySoror Tech Inc. only, and not with Apple Inc. or Google LLC. Neither Apple nor Google is a party to these Terms, and neither is responsible for the HeySoror application or its content.
16.3 Maintenance and Support
HeySoror alone is responsible for providing maintenance and support for the application. Apple and Google have no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance or support services for it.
16.4 Warranty
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple and Google provide no warranty with respect to the application. If the application fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund your purchase price for the application, if any. Apple has no other warranty obligation of any kind with respect to the application. As between HeySoror and Apple, any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to any warranty are HeySoror's sole responsibility.
16.5 Product Claims
HeySoror, not Apple or Google, is responsible for addressing any claims relating to the application or your use of it, including product liability claims, any claim that the application fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer-protection, privacy, or similar law.
16.6 Intellectual Property Claims
If a third party claims that the application or your use of it infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, HeySoror — not Apple or Google — is solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of that claim.
16.7 Legal Compliance
You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
16.8 Third-Party Beneficiary
Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this Section 16, and may enforce its terms against you as a third-party beneficiary. You also acknowledge that your use of the application obtained through Google Play is subject to the Google Play Terms of Service.
